Canoga Park Braces for Summer 2009
Canoga Park residents remember the summer of 2006 quite well. It was the summer that the San Fernando Valley was deemed “Death Valley.” It was a July afternoon that broke record temperatures at a sweltering 119 degrees. Canoga Park and Woodland Hills were hit hard with the heat. Temperatures in Woodland Hills broke the previous record set in 1949. What’s more amazing was that the record was broken by three degrees. Even cities like Burbank hit 112 degrees, only one degree cooler than the all time Burbank record.

That’s the day when many Canoga Park residents realized that living with just a fan was unbearable. Home air conditioning sales hit the roof and portable type air conditioning units flew off the shelves.

Summer of 2009 temperatures are uncertain in this early part of July, but Canoga Park residents aren’t taking any chances. They are bracing for the worst and have done their best to install quality air conditioners in their homes and businesses.
