Newbury Park Explores Renewable Energy
The Energy Efficiency and Conservation Block Grant Program allocated $3.2 billion, through the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act, to "reduce total energy use and fossil fuel emissions, and improve energy efficiency," as stated by the U.S. Department of Energy. The grant should help fund alternative energy projects in the cities of Ventura, Oxnard, Simi Valley, Camarillo, and Newbury Park.

Newbury Park and Thousand Oaks will receive money towards the installation of solar equipment for the Civic Arts Plaza and Newbury Park Branch Library. The plaza solar panels will provide about twenty-five percent of the building's energy. The Newbury Park Library solar panels will offer approximately sixty-five percent of the facility's needed energy.
