Westlake Village Restores Housing Project
Two nights ago, the Westlake Village City council voted to reinstate the housing rehabilitation program. This program is designed to help low and middle income families within in the Westlake city perimeter. Though, this fund hasn’t been used since 2005, the city council agreed that residents would benefit from the funding this year into next.
The budget will allocate up to six grants in the amount of $ 5,000 each, to be spent on qualified applicants. In the past, Westlake grant recipients tend to spend the money on home repairs. Typically, air conditioning and heating repairs top the list, with replacing roofs and water heaters coming in second and third.
In order to qualify a one person household’s earnings may not exceed $42,450, while a two person family may earn no more than $48,500, and a family of three cannot exceed yearly earnings of $54,600.
The projected allocation for Westlake Village is $33,024, with 10% allocated for administrative costs. The Westlake City Council took recognized the plight of many Americans today and agreed to donate the entire amount for the housing rehabilitation fund.
