New Air Technology Saves Woodland Hills Campus
It was about seven years ago, when the innovative Hybrid Chiller System was installed throughout Pierce College. The entire Woodland Hills campus now has an energy efficient air conditioning unit, which provides year-round comfort.

Prior to the Hybrid air conditioning, this spacious Woodland Hills College only provided cooling systems in the computer rooms, library, and administration offices. With valley summer temperatures soaring over one hundred degrees, campus officials knew that an updated air conditioning unit was necessary.

There are many air conditioning solutions out there, but Pierce College opted for the new and improved approach. Hybrid air conditioning systems run on half-gas, half-electricity and this Woodland Hills brainstorm involves time-of-day usage rate and cost of utilities. The Pierce brand of air conditioning switches between gas and electricity based on the current energy prices calculated by daily utility rates.

Not only has the Hybrid air conditioning unit proved to be economical, but it has also provided students and staff with a comfortable learning environment. Air conditioning repairs have been infrequent, and the Hybrid has lived up to all expectations, by effectively using both gas and electricity. This Woodland Hills campus is projected to experience years of savings.
