I got three bids. Canoga Park Heating and A/C was the last to bid the job and I chose them because I felt that the sales manager, Doug Oglivie, had tremendous integrity. While Canoga's bid was not the lowest, it was 39% lower than the highest bid. One of the things that truly impressed me was that Doug not only didn't try to sell me things he thought I didn't need; he worked to talk me out of purchasing things I did not need such as all new duct work, which would have added another approximately $1,500.00 to the project, which still would have been less than the highest bid. Also, Doug was patient about walking me through available products and I ended up with Carrier products including: a 3 ton furnace 80 AFUE, 2 stage, A/C 2.5 ton, 15 Seer with 2.5 ton coil with highest efficiency. Also a new Honeywell digital programmable thermostat, which I love.

It went beautifully from start to finish; and I must say Doug did have to do some "hand-holding" with me because this was a big project which I knew little about and I was a bit nervous. He was up to the task! He was patient, kind and always willing to explain things. He did everything in his power to see that the process went as I wished. We set a date for the installation and Doug showed up on time with the tecnicians, Rudy and Johnny. Here I must say that these guys, Rudy and Johnny, were professional, meticulous, efficient, polite and they cleaned up after themselves as if it were their own home. Since they were doing both heat and air the project took approximately a day and a half. This was in December and it was cold. So their first priority was to ensure that the heating unit was installed and working by day end the first day. The next day they finished up with the a/c. I used to hate opening the closet with the heating unit in it as the floor was all full of stucco and dust; but Rudy and Johnny installed sheet metal on the floor of the closet and now it looks real nice in there. Even the building inspector was impressed at how nice it looked we he came to inspect the installation. Doug had pulled a building permit with the City of Moorpark on the first day of work; however two days after the job was finished I went out of town for 11 days for the holidays and couldn't get the inspection done until I returned. I wanted to wait for the inspection before I signed the "work completion" form and the final paperwork. Doug said fine by him, which I thought was very generous. Especially since he filed with Carrier for my $250.00 rebate and the rebate check reached me before I had a chance to call the building inspector and to sign the work completion form and other paperwork. Wow! I had been very worried about my duct work since one of the bidding companies advised me that it wasn't in good shape and suggested that it be replaced. However, Doug reassured me repeatedly about this and when the job was done he personally tested the ducting in preparation for the California HERS testing. Upon my return the HERS testing was set up and we passed with flying colors. Last came the building inspection and the only thing missing was a form and the need for upgraded fuses in the box by the a/c unit. Doug kindly came out with the fuses and we completed the paperwork. I could not have asked for a better experience. I would recommend Canoga Park Air Conditioning, Doug Oglivie, Rudy and Johnny without hesitation to anyone who needs heating and air condition repair or upgrade.
