Our old HVAC system was 24 years old and we knew it was on its way out. There were a few 100+ degree days earlier this spring and we paniced and decided the new system needed to be purchased. I had researched via Angie's List the previous fall few local dealers and called one of them again and found two new "A" rated ones. Canoga Park Heating and Air was one of them and Bob Wiseman came out to provide us wth an estimate. Bob was on time and very relaxed and knowledgeable. We had not planned on getting the top of the line unit. Every dealer suggested something different and Canoga Park carried Carrier units. The difference was that Bob did not push for the most expensive, he listened to what I wanted and suggested within that range but did offer that they could also provide us with new insulation which I knew we needed. No one else offerred that. We got prices and they were all within $1000 of each other with similar features and rebates. What we did see was that the top of the line, with the larger rebates came out not costing much more especially after the Federal Tax rebate and it had a better efficiency rating which we felt would pay off over the years in reduced electrical bills. We scheduled the installtion for 3 weeks from that day.

Bob and his work foreman Ross showed up the week before to just go over the job, answer any last minute questions and provide me with the timetable. The first day and every other of the 4 days, they were right on time. The two workmen who did the work and I feel bad I can't remember their names were tremendous. To have two men going in and out of your house and backyard for 4 days can be a stress but they took such good care of our house, they cleaned up each day, they put down carpets on the floors, they put cardboard around corners, etc. I realized that they removed the old furnance and blower system from the attic and lifted the new one up there and even though my office was just off of the hallway, I never even noticed.

They replaced all of the duct work, made one vent larger in our bedroom and installed a new freon (puron) pipe system. I would say the only negatives were that originally they installed the wrong thermostat from what they quoted me but one call and it was fixed the next day. I also could have used a bit more detail that we needed to uproot one tree to make room for the bigger outside compressor and they didn't give me that notice until the day before I had to have it done. During the transplanting that tree died. But I can not complain on how wonderful the rest of the job went and how great the two men were who did all of the work. They kept me informed every step of the way. Lastly, just as promised, the new unit is whisper quiet and keeps the air cool and comfortable.
